What to do when others are coming against you…

OK, so maybe I don’t really know the popular song ‘Shake it off’ these days even if the chorus is really catchy and makes me want to dance 💃 … But one thing I do know?

God’s Word is Truth and it can and should be applied to our lives each and every day.

Let’s read in Matthew chapter 10 where Jesus sends out His twelve disciples to continue their work for Him, their work to further His kingdom… He gives them some very wise advice.

“Shake off the dust of your feet.” (verse 14)

What if they don’t accept me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they talk about me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they don’t like me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they mock me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they don’t like the way I dress? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they simply don’t want to hear what I have to say? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF🎶

Ladies, people are going to talk about you, people are going to ridicule you, people are not always going to agree with everything you say. But if God has asked you to say something or do something to further His kingdom, just do it!

Don’t let the fear of people keep you from obeying the voice of God.

Glitter or Diamonds: Which do you choose?

Let’s face it, what lady doesn’t love glitter!?!

But just a reminder today to not get so caught up in the frills and lace of the world that we lose focus of our mission.

Remember that vision you once had?

Maybe with your spouse or maybe it was just you…what were your Spiritual goals and dreams?

What happened to them? How have we let them slip away?

But more importantly, how do we get them back?

Remember why and for WHO you are doing all these things (because I know you live a very fast paced, busy life!).

Ask God to show you those desires again and let’s get busy!

I have a quote in my Bible by Louie Giglio that says,

“If you’re not outmatched by the task and desperate for His power, the water you’re standing in might be too shallow.”

If your vision or Spiritual dreams are within your own reach, they may not be “God-Sized”!

Quit burying that diamond by digging for glitter!

Do you accept your Mission?

Your #Mission is not to please people!

Your mission is not to tiptoe around other momma’s and daddy’s (men and women) trying to be accepted!

Your mission is not to fit in!

Your mission is not to carry your feelings on your shoulders!

Your MISSION is #Love!

Your Mission is #Truth!

Your Mission is to ‘proclaim good tidings to the meek’…’bind up the broken hearted’…’proclaim liberty to the captives’…and ‘free those that are bound’!

Your Mission is to be a #PeculiarPeople!

Your Mission is to #BeYeHoly!

Your Mission is to to #Represent Jesus!

Your Mission is to #SpeakLife!

Your Mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Do you?

Confession: I AM NOT ENOUGH {but God is}

Sometimes I feel that I should do more…I should have more of the right words…I should be able to fix things and make others feel better.

After all, I am the pastor’s wife, right?

One night this week I was blessed with the opportunity to minister to several different lades who were all having a really rough week.  I use the word ‘minister’ very lightly because the whole time in my mind I was thinking, “you don’t even have the words to say…you may be quoting a few scriptures to them right now but they don’t want to hear that right now, they KNOW these things…they are simply having a rough week/season/life!  As their leadership, how are you going to fix this?”

And then the Lord spoke these words into my spirit…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”Matthew 11:28-29

Friends, if we want to be like Jesus, if we want to walk and talk like Jesus, if we want to show Jesus, sometimes we must simply provide a shelter from the storms.  This is how we be His hands and His feet…by wrapping our arms around our sisters in Christ and letting them cry.  No, I can’t fix the situation.

I may not even have the correct “pastor’s wife” words…but I do know a God who heals delivers, restores, strengthens, and sets free!  And at times, He chooses me to wrap my arms around a loved one and remind them of these truths.

When you sometimes feel like you aren’t doing enough, simply listen and let them cry

because when God is in involved, HE IS ENOUGH.

You need Jesus! – I need Jesus! – We ALL need Jesus!

You need to be skinnier.

You need to be healthier.

You need to have blond hair.

You need to have brown hair.

You need to show more cleavage.

You need to fit in.

You need to go looking for love.

You need to not be so feminine.

You need to be more independent.

You need to ‘experiment’ before you settle down.

No, I’m sorry…YOU NEED JESUS…and He is enough!

Friends, have you ever heard the phrase “Lying by Omission”?  I’m sure you’ve heard it…I’m sure you’ve used it.

Lying by Omission: lying by either omitting certain facts or by failing to correct a misconception.
…failing to correct a misconception…

All over the television, all over social media, all over everywhere, we are being fed these misconceptions.

Our sons are being taught to think they have a choice on whether they want to be a man or a women!

Our daughters are being taught to ‘flaunt what they’ve got’ and ‘life just isn’t worth it’!

Our husbands are being led to believe that this ‘other woman’ has more of an interest in him than his wife does and it’s OK to have an ‘innocent’ relationship with her!

Why do they think this?  After all, we’ve never told them these things, right!?!

No, we haven’t but the world has…..and we are deceiving them by the simple act of omission!

We have got to speak up and speak out!  I’m not saying you have to go on an all out ‘rant’ on Facebook and bash those who don’t believe the way you do…as a matter of fact, I don’t agree with that in the least…but I do believe we need to be speaking LIFE into our children and our spouses!

Teach your sons to put on the full armor of God so that they can withstand the schemes of the enemy and stand their ground! Ephesians 6:10-20

Teach your daughters to respect their bodies and to not throw their pearls to the pigs! Matthew 7:6
Teach them that they are loved and cherished by an Almighty Father!  Teach them that they were created by God, loved by God, important to God, WANTED by God!  Times may be hard but they will not be overtaken…they may be persecuted but not destroyed!  2 Corinthians 4:7-9

SHOW your husbands that you love them and respect them and appreciate them!  Let your actions prove to him that you adore and want him, that he is important to you!  Proverbs 31:10-31

We hold a power within us and we don’t even realize it!  Yes, the power of our tongue can bring death but it can also bring forth life!

“The tongue has the power of life and death…”Proverbs 18:21

As Christians, it is not enough for us to abstain from telling lies or spreading gossip but we must also refuse to omit the truth in order to absolutely obliterate the device of the enemy!

Don’t pass it up…Pick it up!

Uh-oh! I think you’ve dropped something…

…only you can pick it back up…

….your desires, your compassion, your joy, your peace, your calling ???

…I can’t do it for you…

“No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.  I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” – John 10:18

Friends, I’ve seen too many of God’s children walking around in defeat.

I know that at times we may be dealing with something out of our own control, but too often today I am seeing blood bought Christians who simply lay down the freely given gifts of God.

As wrote in the book of John, some things once laid down can only be picked back up with our own accord!

This thing you laid down may not be worth a penny to someone else, but to you it is crucial!

“This JOY that I have…the world didn’t give it to me.
This PEACE that I have…the world didn’t give it to me.
This TRUTH that I have….the world didn’t give it to me.

The world didn’t give it and the world can’t take it away!

What are you waiting for?

(Couldn’t help but post this one :) )

Preaching To Myself Today…

I posted something on my Facebook recently about Noah…and promises…and waiting…

Here is my status update from June 2nd @ 10:12 am:

When God ordains your ‪#‎Mission‬, you don’t have to go searching for your Promise!

In Genesis chapter 7 notice that when it’s time for Noah and the animals to load the ark, Noah doesn’t have to go ‪#‎Gather‬ the animals. They ‘came to Noah’ and entered the ark!

That call you are waiting on, that message that’s coming, that ministry opportunity in your future…

God sees, God knows, God hears…

Don’t lose sight of your ‪#‎Vision‬, your ‪#‎Promise‬ is coming!

“Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.”Genesis 7:8-9

And like I mentioned above, I was/am absolutely ‘preachin’ to myself’ here!  But as I was pondering on this truth, God spoke something deeper to me…a warning, if you will.  Noah did not have to go searching for his promise…God walked it right up to his front door!  (Thank you Lord!) But once that took place something else happened…

Let’s go a little further down to verse 12:

“And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.”

The animals walked in…but then the doors were shut again…for awhile

It would still be some time before that Promise came full circle.  As a matter of fact, it wasn’t for another 2 chapters!

I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”  And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”  So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” Genesis 9:11-17

Friends, your promise is coming!…but do not get discouraged if you see a portion of your promise and then have to wait again…

“The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.”Lamentations 3:25

Challenge Accepted #3

After the week I’ve had…I don’t know if my challenge will be much more than staying alive…HOWEVER, I think this picture will help!

No, not really!  My week wasn’t that bad…but sometimes we make mountains out of molehills don’t we?  :)

Either way, it’s Saturday and I know you don’t want to spend 30 minutes reading my blog post.  So, let’s get to it!

My challenge to you this weekend is this:

*Do something nice for somebody…something that makes you go ‘above and beyond’…

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”Galatians 6:9

As for me?

Color Run or Mud Run: Our Destination is the Same

I’ve questioned God, or in the very least, asked myself, “Why me?  Why do I have to do ‘this’ and how come she is able to do ‘that’?

You see, my walk with God may not look just like yours.  But this is OK.  I’m happy with who I am in God…truly I am.  That is until I begin taking my eyes off Jesus and looking at others.

Let me take you to a very familiar point of scripture.  It may not make sense in the beginning but hang with me…it should in the end.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Matthew 14:25-29

‘Bid me come Lord!’  I say this…but do I truly mean it?  I mean, I want to walk the way God wants me to walk…but on my terms.  Oh wait, that doesn’t make sense does it?  Let’s try this again.  I want to rise to a new level in God…but on my time.  Oh…that doesn’t work either.  I want to ‘fix my eyes on You Lord…but look at others in the process.  I want to know why you’ve asked me to wear skirts all the time when these high profile women’s speakers are modest in their jeans and highly favored and anointed all the same.
These questions don’t come often…but they do come.

Your questions and doubts may not look just like mine.  You may be one of these mighty anointed women of God that can do her thing while being modestly dressed in a pair of jeans but still question why other women are able to be a stay at home momma when you have to work a full time job outside of the home.

Ladies, we may all be different but still so much the same.  We all have struggles and look at other women and want what they have.  If you are anything like me it has nothing to do with material things but everything to do with eternal things.  You desire to have a ministry like hers or a life like hers…

I wonder if just maybe during these moments we’ve simply taken our eyes off Jesus.

I know scripture doesn’t quite say this but I wonder if just maybe, while looking at the storm around about him, Peter looked over at the boat and thought “How come I had to be the first one to say ‘bid me come Lord’?  Why did I have to open my big mouth?  How come they get to stay in the boat but I felt led to take that step over the edge and draw closer to the Lord?  Why can’t I stay in the boat too?  I know they are going to be used as mightily as I am and they are safe and sound inside the boat…dry…and not sinking…”

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
    before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5

Ladies, it’s OK that our walks all look different.  It’s ok that we are not all cookie cutter.  It’s ok…because I might can reach someone that you can’t…and you might can reach someone that I can’t.

This is all part of God’s great plan!

I may choose the Color Run and you may choose the Mud Run…but our destination is all the same!

God has called you to be an ORIGINAL not a DUPLICATE!  Stand firm in who He created you to be and keep your eyes on Jesus!

This is your walk, not hers!

In Spirit AND in Truth!

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.John 4:24

A few years ago as I was reading in the book of John, this scripture caught my attention.  I prayed and asked God to reveal to me what He wanted me to know about it.  I’m going to do my best to try and explain it to you the way God gave it to me.

OK, you know the parts in scripture that say, ‘do no murder, steal, etc…’?  This is a point blank command…this is TRUTH.  Don’t do it.  OR… ‘honor your father and mother’. This is also a point blank command.  Do it.

The worshiping in truth part, I got but the worshiping in spirit part goes a little deeper.  When I worship in spirit, this is when God becomes personable to me.

This is my walk, not yours.

As you enter into the presence of the Lord, fall at His feet, and seek Him like never before, God will in turn, reveal things to you like never before.

The deeper your desire to grow in God and the stronger your desire to rise in Him, the more He requires of you.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.Jeremiah 29:13

Now this leads me to something completely different but alike all at the same time.

A short run down of my past:

I was raised in church my whole life.  A very good church and by a wonderful family that taught me lots of important things.  Faithfulness for one…and also that scripture trumps everything.  So when I became an adult and began seeking God out on my own, I learned something new.  Just because I’ve heard something all my life does not mean it is the ONLY truth…maybe there is more.  Not to dismiss what I had already been taught but to discover more!

I learned how to get in and breakdown scriptures for myself and let God reveal Himself to me, personally.

So today, I want to encourage you to seek God for WHO He is…and not just who you’ve been told He was.

God is still God.  He is the same today as He was yesterday and 500 years ago.  He will be the same God tomorrow and He desires to have a personal relationship with you, not just something or Someone to mark off your long list of ‘to do’s’…

Let’s worship God in Spirit AND in Truth!
