In the midst of my own downfalls…

I’m behind on my Bible reading.

I have been for some time now and I’m having a hard time getting back in the groove.

Surely I’m not the only one who does this?

But I”m not here today to talk about my downfalls … but about the Lord’s provisions in the midst of my downfalls!

You see, last night I began praying about something specific.  As I was getting ready for bed I asked God if He wanted me to pursue this new thing in my life.  I didn’t want to make a decision based on my own fleshly desires but wanted to walk in the Lord’s perfect will for my life.

Lord, is this something you want me to pursue?  I don’t want to make a decision before I hear from you.  I know I like the idea of this new thing but what would you like me to do?  Because even though I like this idea, it also scares me to death.  Not only is it something new and different but it would be a new location and new faces…and I’m comfortable right where I am.  What would You have me to do?  Do I pursue this new thing?

So I crawled in bed and even though it was late, I was bound and determined to get in at least one chapter before I went to sleep.  I clicked on my Bible Reading Plan and backed up to where I am supposed to be and this is what I read…

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation,  and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” – Genesis 12:1-3

Can I just tell you that I cried…

I know that I’m not saying exactly what I’m praying about… I will in time…but just know this…

…even when we are behind or lacking, God is enough and still right on time!

Challenge Accepted #6

Oh yes I do!

I love weekends because that means more family time, more farm time, and more time for rejuvenation, junkin’ and Jesus!

And this is exactly what my weekend will hold.  My husband and I (and our kiddos) love to go ‘junkin’.  Throughout our weekends we have met some of the most amazing individuals!  Many, many times do we have the opportunity to minister and pray with others.

We’ve nicknamed ourselves The Joyful Junkers! Joyfully showing Jesus everywhere we go… (Lord knows He has to help me with this one throughout the last few weeks with my AC being out in my vehicle with 100 degree temps!)

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3:17

So my challenge to you this weekend is this:

WHATEVER YOU DO…give God the glory and honor and SHOW JESUS everywhere you go!

(even if it is hot and humid outside)

How INSTANT are you?

To be in instant “in season and out of season”

What does this mean and how do we do this?

I’ll tell you how because God has really been dealing with me on this issue. :/

To be instant means to be prepared…be prepared to spread the gospel…be prepared to tell others about Jesus…be prepared to show Jesus…

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.” – 2 Timothy 4:2

BUT how do we prepare ourselves?

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

We prepare our hearts, minds, and bodies by reading the word of God.

We become instant when we read the word of God…

I can attest to this!

When I’m reading the Word like I should, God is constantly revealing His truths unto me…

When I am digging into scripture, He amazes me with His presence…

What to do when others are coming against you…

OK, so maybe I don’t really know the popular song ‘Shake it off’ these days even if the chorus is really catchy and makes me want to dance 💃 … But one thing I do know?

God’s Word is Truth and it can and should be applied to our lives each and every day.

Let’s read in Matthew chapter 10 where Jesus sends out His twelve disciples to continue their work for Him, their work to further His kingdom… He gives them some very wise advice.

“Shake off the dust of your feet.” (verse 14)

What if they don’t accept me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they talk about me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they don’t like me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they mock me? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they don’t like the way I dress? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF! 🎶
What if they simply don’t want to hear what I have to say? 🎶 SHAKE IT OFF🎶

Ladies, people are going to talk about you, people are going to ridicule you, people are not always going to agree with everything you say. But if God has asked you to say something or do something to further His kingdom, just do it!

Don’t let the fear of people keep you from obeying the voice of God.

Glitter or Diamonds: Which do you choose?

Let’s face it, what lady doesn’t love glitter!?!

But just a reminder today to not get so caught up in the frills and lace of the world that we lose focus of our mission.

Remember that vision you once had?

Maybe with your spouse or maybe it was just you…what were your Spiritual goals and dreams?

What happened to them? How have we let them slip away?

But more importantly, how do we get them back?

Remember why and for WHO you are doing all these things (because I know you live a very fast paced, busy life!).

Ask God to show you those desires again and let’s get busy!

I have a quote in my Bible by Louie Giglio that says,

“If you’re not outmatched by the task and desperate for His power, the water you’re standing in might be too shallow.”

If your vision or Spiritual dreams are within your own reach, they may not be “God-Sized”!

Quit burying that diamond by digging for glitter!

My husband and I have been through a lot.

Over the last 14 years we’ve experienced some messy days. Some days, messier and bigger than others.

We’ve went through the birth of two children, one of them being born with heart complications therefore leading to heart surgery, we’ve experienced college days, careers, leadership positions and even church hurt. I can gladly say that through the grace of God, these messy days have brought us closer together.

So why is it that toothaches, leg cramps, yelping puppies and sleepless nights can bring out the worst in us?

Why is it that we can look back on these ‘big’ trials and see the growth that has taken place during these days but then we get up one fine Thursday morning, tired and cranky (see leg cramps, puppies, and sleepless nights) and feel like we’ve taken 10 steps back?

I’ll tell you why… scripture tells us in Song of Solomon 2:15, “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines…”

Ladies, these simple, mundane days…these are the days that mold us into that powerful woman of God.

The days that help us endure the ‘big’ days.

We have been given the gift to choose.

We can choose to focus on how cranky hubby was this morning and how ugly our reaction might have been…OR…we can choose to use these leg cramps and sleepless nights as growth opportunities.

So, today, no matter how your morning went or how your week has gone, or even your entire 2015, CHOOSE joy, CHOOSE peace, CHOOSE kind words, CHOOSE forgiveness.

No, we can’t do this on our own but get in God’s word, pray, seek Him.

Let Him lead you in these moments of growth because it’s the pesky little foxes that can make or break us.

Jesus replied, “and why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?” – Matthew 15:3

I want to encourage you to search out God’s Word for yourself.

Yes, I’m sure a lot of us have had some good, solid teaching throughout our lives.

However, have you sought Him for yourself?

Have you ever wondered why do we do ‘this’ or why we do ‘that’?

I’m sure most of the “traditions” you follow are biblical but are they all?

I’ve learned so much over the years from very wise men and women but the biggest jump in my spiritual walk came when I began digging in and seeking God on my own.

I thank God for my parents and the spiritual leaders God placed in front of me but more than that…I thank God that He is personal with me! He speaks to me. He listens to me. And every single day He teaches me something new.

I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am THE LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
Isaiah 45:3

Let’s party like it’s 1999!

Guess what today is?

Y’all, I am 33 years old and I still love my birthday!

As a Christian, I should love life!

Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly!

No, this doesn’t mean that my life is all hunky-dory or sunshine and roses but it does mean that I AM BLESSED and GOD IS GOOD!

So, how will you help me celebrate today?

*Buy yourself that new purse you’ve been wanting!

* Splurge on lunch today!

* Eat Cake!

*Wear a tiara!

Go ahead, I give you permission.

It’s my birthday, let’s celebrate!

Challenge Accepted #4

Praise the Lord!  We made it!

It’s the weekend so that means it is time for a challenge!

My challenge to you this weekend is:

Memorize one scripture verse.

I don’t care what scripture you choose, I don’t care how long or how short it is…just memorize a scripture. Share it with your family and live it out this weekend!

If you just can’t seem to decide on one, here is a good one to begin with:

“Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
Joshua 3:5

Read it, speak it, believe it, live it!
