In the midst of my own downfalls…

I’m behind on my Bible reading.

I have been for some time now and I’m having a hard time getting back in the groove.

Surely I’m not the only one who does this?

But I”m not here today to talk about my downfalls … but about the Lord’s provisions in the midst of my downfalls!

You see, last night I began praying about something specific.  As I was getting ready for bed I asked God if He wanted me to pursue this new thing in my life.  I didn’t want to make a decision based on my own fleshly desires but wanted to walk in the Lord’s perfect will for my life.

Lord, is this something you want me to pursue?  I don’t want to make a decision before I hear from you.  I know I like the idea of this new thing but what would you like me to do?  Because even though I like this idea, it also scares me to death.  Not only is it something new and different but it would be a new location and new faces…and I’m comfortable right where I am.  What would You have me to do?  Do I pursue this new thing?

So I crawled in bed and even though it was late, I was bound and determined to get in at least one chapter before I went to sleep.  I clicked on my Bible Reading Plan and backed up to where I am supposed to be and this is what I read…

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation,  and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” – Genesis 12:1-3

Can I just tell you that I cried…

I know that I’m not saying exactly what I’m praying about… I will in time…but just know this…

…even when we are behind or lacking, God is enough and still right on time!

Give me Jesus…

“Is Allison up to date on her tetanus shot?”

That was the first thing out of my husband’s mouth when I answered his phone call.  Allison had stepped on an old rusty nail.

She is up to date on all her shots though so she didn’t have to get another one.  It’s a good thing too because I think the thought of that was causing her more trauma than the nail itself! :)

This got me to thinking though about our spiritual walks…

Are you up to date on Jesus?

What happens when you step on those old rusty nails, spiritually?  The enemy likes to throw obstacles in our path, be it people or things.

How do we handle them?  Are we able to withstand the darts of the enemy or do we allow them to pierce us and then fester?

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Ephesians 6

The enemy knows where our weaknesses lie.  When we are not protected, he will try to come in any way he can.  I cannot stress to you how important it is to put on the FULL armor of God.

We can’t just pick and choose what part to put on.

So, my friends, are you up to date on your Jesus shot?

Glitter or Diamonds: Which do you choose?

Let’s face it, what lady doesn’t love glitter!?!

But just a reminder today to not get so caught up in the frills and lace of the world that we lose focus of our mission.

Remember that vision you once had?

Maybe with your spouse or maybe it was just you…what were your Spiritual goals and dreams?

What happened to them? How have we let them slip away?

But more importantly, how do we get them back?

Remember why and for WHO you are doing all these things (because I know you live a very fast paced, busy life!).

Ask God to show you those desires again and let’s get busy!

I have a quote in my Bible by Louie Giglio that says,

“If you’re not outmatched by the task and desperate for His power, the water you’re standing in might be too shallow.”

If your vision or Spiritual dreams are within your own reach, they may not be “God-Sized”!

Quit burying that diamond by digging for glitter!

Challenge Accepted #4

Praise the Lord!  We made it!

It’s the weekend so that means it is time for a challenge!

My challenge to you this weekend is:

Memorize one scripture verse.

I don’t care what scripture you choose, I don’t care how long or how short it is…just memorize a scripture. Share it with your family and live it out this weekend!

If you just can’t seem to decide on one, here is a good one to begin with:

“Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
Joshua 3:5

Read it, speak it, believe it, live it!

Confession: I AM NOT ENOUGH {but God is}

Sometimes I feel that I should do more…I should have more of the right words…I should be able to fix things and make others feel better.

After all, I am the pastor’s wife, right?

One night this week I was blessed with the opportunity to minister to several different lades who were all having a really rough week.  I use the word ‘minister’ very lightly because the whole time in my mind I was thinking, “you don’t even have the words to say…you may be quoting a few scriptures to them right now but they don’t want to hear that right now, they KNOW these things…they are simply having a rough week/season/life!  As their leadership, how are you going to fix this?”

And then the Lord spoke these words into my spirit…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”Matthew 11:28-29

Friends, if we want to be like Jesus, if we want to walk and talk like Jesus, if we want to show Jesus, sometimes we must simply provide a shelter from the storms.  This is how we be His hands and His feet…by wrapping our arms around our sisters in Christ and letting them cry.  No, I can’t fix the situation.

I may not even have the correct “pastor’s wife” words…but I do know a God who heals delivers, restores, strengthens, and sets free!  And at times, He chooses me to wrap my arms around a loved one and remind them of these truths.

When you sometimes feel like you aren’t doing enough, simply listen and let them cry

because when God is in involved, HE IS ENOUGH.

You need Jesus! – I need Jesus! – We ALL need Jesus!

You need to be skinnier.

You need to be healthier.

You need to have blond hair.

You need to have brown hair.

You need to show more cleavage.

You need to fit in.

You need to go looking for love.

You need to not be so feminine.

You need to be more independent.

You need to ‘experiment’ before you settle down.

No, I’m sorry…YOU NEED JESUS…and He is enough!

Friends, have you ever heard the phrase “Lying by Omission”?  I’m sure you’ve heard it…I’m sure you’ve used it.

Lying by Omission: lying by either omitting certain facts or by failing to correct a misconception.
…failing to correct a misconception…

All over the television, all over social media, all over everywhere, we are being fed these misconceptions.

Our sons are being taught to think they have a choice on whether they want to be a man or a women!

Our daughters are being taught to ‘flaunt what they’ve got’ and ‘life just isn’t worth it’!

Our husbands are being led to believe that this ‘other woman’ has more of an interest in him than his wife does and it’s OK to have an ‘innocent’ relationship with her!

Why do they think this?  After all, we’ve never told them these things, right!?!

No, we haven’t but the world has…..and we are deceiving them by the simple act of omission!

We have got to speak up and speak out!  I’m not saying you have to go on an all out ‘rant’ on Facebook and bash those who don’t believe the way you do…as a matter of fact, I don’t agree with that in the least…but I do believe we need to be speaking LIFE into our children and our spouses!

Teach your sons to put on the full armor of God so that they can withstand the schemes of the enemy and stand their ground! Ephesians 6:10-20

Teach your daughters to respect their bodies and to not throw their pearls to the pigs! Matthew 7:6
Teach them that they are loved and cherished by an Almighty Father!  Teach them that they were created by God, loved by God, important to God, WANTED by God!  Times may be hard but they will not be overtaken…they may be persecuted but not destroyed!  2 Corinthians 4:7-9

SHOW your husbands that you love them and respect them and appreciate them!  Let your actions prove to him that you adore and want him, that he is important to you!  Proverbs 31:10-31

We hold a power within us and we don’t even realize it!  Yes, the power of our tongue can bring death but it can also bring forth life!

“The tongue has the power of life and death…”Proverbs 18:21

As Christians, it is not enough for us to abstain from telling lies or spreading gossip but we must also refuse to omit the truth in order to absolutely obliterate the device of the enemy!

Preaching To Myself Today…

I posted something on my Facebook recently about Noah…and promises…and waiting…

Here is my status update from June 2nd @ 10:12 am:

When God ordains your ‪#‎Mission‬, you don’t have to go searching for your Promise!

In Genesis chapter 7 notice that when it’s time for Noah and the animals to load the ark, Noah doesn’t have to go ‪#‎Gather‬ the animals. They ‘came to Noah’ and entered the ark!

That call you are waiting on, that message that’s coming, that ministry opportunity in your future…

God sees, God knows, God hears…

Don’t lose sight of your ‪#‎Vision‬, your ‪#‎Promise‬ is coming!

“Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.”Genesis 7:8-9

And like I mentioned above, I was/am absolutely ‘preachin’ to myself’ here!  But as I was pondering on this truth, God spoke something deeper to me…a warning, if you will.  Noah did not have to go searching for his promise…God walked it right up to his front door!  (Thank you Lord!) But once that took place something else happened…

Let’s go a little further down to verse 12:

“And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.”

The animals walked in…but then the doors were shut again…for awhile

It would still be some time before that Promise came full circle.  As a matter of fact, it wasn’t for another 2 chapters!

I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”  And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”  So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” Genesis 9:11-17

Friends, your promise is coming!…but do not get discouraged if you see a portion of your promise and then have to wait again…

“The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.”Lamentations 3:25

Again, #PreachinToMyselfToday

In Spirit AND in Truth!

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.John 4:24

A few years ago as I was reading in the book of John, this scripture caught my attention.  I prayed and asked God to reveal to me what He wanted me to know about it.  I’m going to do my best to try and explain it to you the way God gave it to me.

OK, you know the parts in scripture that say, ‘do no murder, steal, etc…’?  This is a point blank command…this is TRUTH.  Don’t do it.  OR… ‘honor your father and mother’. This is also a point blank command.  Do it.

The worshiping in truth part, I got but the worshiping in spirit part goes a little deeper.  When I worship in spirit, this is when God becomes personable to me.

This is my walk, not yours.

As you enter into the presence of the Lord, fall at His feet, and seek Him like never before, God will in turn, reveal things to you like never before.

The deeper your desire to grow in God and the stronger your desire to rise in Him, the more He requires of you.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.Jeremiah 29:13

Now this leads me to something completely different but alike all at the same time.

A short run down of my past:

I was raised in church my whole life.  A very good church and by a wonderful family that taught me lots of important things.  Faithfulness for one…and also that scripture trumps everything.  So when I became an adult and began seeking God out on my own, I learned something new.  Just because I’ve heard something all my life does not mean it is the ONLY truth…maybe there is more.  Not to dismiss what I had already been taught but to discover more!

I learned how to get in and breakdown scriptures for myself and let God reveal Himself to me, personally.

So today, I want to encourage you to seek God for WHO He is…and not just who you’ve been told He was.

God is still God.  He is the same today as He was yesterday and 500 years ago.  He will be the same God tomorrow and He desires to have a personal relationship with you, not just something or Someone to mark off your long list of ‘to do’s’…

Let’s worship God in Spirit AND in Truth!

A Defeated Foe…

Have you ever walked through a season in your life that your mind just wouldn’t shut down those negative thoughts?

You don’t belong there…they don’t even like you…you aren’t good enough…and you never will be…you don’t fit in with those church people…they are judging you…they are purposefully avoiding you…

Well you know what I have to say about that?

Or what about those of us who have served God for years? We aren’t above this STINKIN’ THINKIN’ either!

You don’t have what it takes…you are such a mess…how are you going to minster or lead these people?…remember what you did way back when?…you might as well just sit down, shut up, and warm that pew!

“You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.” – Marianne Williamson

It’s time we place that ole’ lying devil under our feet and get about the Master’s business!

1 Peter 5:8 says “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Now why in the world do you suppose this refers to our minds and the devil devouring all in the same scripture?

Because Satan knows how to trip us up. Notice I DID NOT say he knows how to defeat us…because we all KNOW that we KNOW that we KNOW that Satan is the defeated foe!

It’s time we tell the negative committee that is meeting in our heads to SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!

Do you understand this? WE WIN!

However, we can’t just say “We Win!” ,we have to BELIEVE “We Win!”

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”Romans 12:1-2

We must ‘renew our minds’ by presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God.

Take those negative thoughts captive in Jesus name! #SpeakLife over that situation, whatever it may be, however impossible it may seem.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9

If you want to keep that Stinkin’ Thinkin’, then do not follow the commands in the above scriptures. Go ahead and let that negativity come on out of your mouth…go ahead and join in on that undesirable conversation and gossip, go ahead and listen to that destructive music…go ahead and focus on the adverse…

BUT, if you are ready to rid your minds of this Stinkin’ Thinkin’, then go right ahead and surround yourself with positive examples…surround yourself with women who will uplift and encourage you…listen to inspiring music…be intentional with your words…and go ahead and focus on the TRUTH!

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
