I love taking something old and useless and making it beautiful and useful again!
Here is one of my recent projects…I wish I had a picture of my “before” so that you could see the difference but just imagine this piece where the seller almost couldn’t give it away…but I seen the potential!
This chair is amazing! I call it a Low Rider Comfort chair. I simply painted the old wood turquoise (including the strip of material on the front of the seat) and then recovered the cushion with an old hand stitched quilt top.
Tonight I have another project (or 2 or 3 or…well, if you know me there is no telling) in mind…so stay tuned!
Now, you know I can’t just write a post about bringing life to old, dead things without at least a few words about the powerful LIFE given to us by Jesus Christ!
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:16-17
Friend, just like this old chair just thrown on another porch …we serve a God of restoration, a God of healing, and a God that is living!
Christ sees life in you…Christ sees potential in you…Christ sees His masterpiece!
As I was driving to work a few days ago, something caught my attention. Down the alley of a well-traveled street was an old alley dog. He was a scrawny little thing, matted, and dirty. That’s all I could see on the outside but oh…there was so much more going on inside. He was hungry, probably scared and lonely. He had managed to find a pile of trash and was digging with all his might to find what he was looking for. Then he spotted me and hid until I had passed on by. Once he thought I was out of sight, he went back to searching…
Have you ever been in a similar situation? Scared, Lonely, and Broken…hungry for something or Someone to fill this ever present void in your life? We know we shouldn’t be searching or hanging out at these places…maybe even hiding when we see somebody we know. But that doesn’t change the fact that you are still hungry. Maybe the party scene will fill this void. Maybe you’ve turned to drugs and alcohol. Maybe its people you are always turning to hoping that they can fill this void and cover up the brokenness and pain from your past. No matter what, you’ve searched and longed for Something, Someone to mend you back together.
Friend, I know Someone who can help. I know a place called Mount Calvary where our begging stops, where our brokenness becomes New Beginnings.
The world can’t, but I know a Man who can.
He was broken, bruised, and beaten so that you are made whole! He died so that you may live! And this Man, He loves you. You are His chosen…You are His royalty… He never intended for you to be digging through spiritual garbage cans looking for your next ‘fix’.
He desires for you to find a hunger for His Word where you will never lack again. Colossians 2:10 says that we are “complete in Christ Jesus”. Would you #TryJesus today?
